1969 Pontiac GTO 2-Door Hardtop Coupe powered by a 6.6L 400cui V8 GM Pontiac big block engine and driven by a THM400 3-spd console-shift automatic transmission.
The Pontiac GTO was manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Pontiac from 1964 through to 1974, and it became a separate model (model number 242) in 1966, instead of being an “option package” on the Tempest LeMans. These Classic GTO’s are getting tough to find in this condition, especially original one’s that have not been converted from a Lemans. This is a true GTO with the first 3 digits of the VIN showing it’s ‘242’ heritage, and was built in GM’s Pontiac Arlington, Texas plant in late April 1969 and finished in Matador Red.
The 2nd Gen GTO underwent a few styling changes in 1968 – Pontiac abandoned the familiar vertically stacked headlights in favor of a horizontal layout, but made hidden headlights available at extra cost. The signature hood scoop was replaced by dual scoops on either side of a prominent hood bulge extending rearward from the protruding nose. Dimensions wise in this model the overall length was reduced by 6″ (150 mm) and the height dropped by 1/2″ (12 mm), but overall the weight was up about 34kgs (75lbs).
This is a matching numbers car that is very solid and rust free. The original engine and transmission have just been rebuilt, it sees a beautiful fresh repaint in it’s original colour of Matador Red matched to a new Black vinyl top, and new custom ‘Pontiac colour’s’ interior. This car has been fully restored and is ready to drive, show & enjoy!
