1974 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Luxury 2-door Hardtop Coupe powered by a 7.4L 455cui V8 GM Oldsmobile Rocket big block engine and driven by a THM400 3-spd column-shift automatic transmission.
The Oldsmobile 98 was the full size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1996. The name — reflecting a “Series 90” fitted with an 8-cylinder engine, was the division’s top-of-the-line model. The 98 shared it’s General Motors C-body platform with both Buick and Cadillac, and since it was the top-line Oldsmobile, the series had the most technologically advanced items available, such as the Hydramatic Automatic Transmission, automatic headlight dimmer, and the highest-grade interior and exterior trim.
The ninth-gen Ninety-Eight’s were the roomiest Oldsmobile’s ever built thanks to the new GM full-size bodies which set a record for interior width that would not be matched by any car until the full-size GM rear-wheel drive models of the early to mid-1990’s, and it’s main differentiating feature from other models was that it had rear Cadillac-esque tailfins.
This car has been purchased from a car collector and is a mint condition luxury SHOW vehicle which sees only 10,637 original miles on the odometer! Only 9,236 of this model were produced in 1974, and this car features it’s original numbers matching driveline. The car rides and drives like no other, being smooth, quiet, comfortable and with the 455cui V8 Big Block it has the power to move. This is a stunning example of early 70’s GM automobiles and without a doubt one of the finest originals around!!
