This Mustang Coupe left Ford’s San Jose, California plant in late April 1968 as a C-code 289cui V8 car with a C4 3-speed automatic floor shift transmission. The car was delivered into the DSO of Los Angeles, California and it has been a West Coast car all it’s life. The original drivetrain is now gone and has been replaced with a rebuilt 302cui hydraulic Roller Cam V8 Windsor engine, matched to a Borg Warner T5 5-speed floor shift manual transmission. Originally painted Lime Gold with Ivy Gold interior, it now externally wears Candy Apple Red paint and standard Black Vinyl interior.
This car is a great driver and shows only some minor exterior paint bubble rust on the driver side lower door, rear quarter and around the edge of the trunk lid. Cosmetically the paint is what you would call a “20 footer”, and the drivers side rear quarter has been replaced some time ago and showing a slightly different lustre. Mechanically it has been upgraded with power assisted 4-wheel disc brakes, new Rack & Pinion steering, aluminium radiator w/ thematic fan and a host of Edelbrock equipment including ‘Performer’ aluminium cylinder heads & aluminium intake, Holley 4-bbl carburetor & air cleaner. Other upgrades include front & rear suspension work and a new dual exhaust system. The car has also been fitted with a roll cage and the original front seats have been replaced with ‘Recaro-style’ front bucket seats.
Overall the car presents very well and is a great solid platform to take even further.
