This car was built in Ford’s San Jose, Northern California plant on the 27th April 1966 and was painted Tahoe Turquoise and featured Luxury Aqua & White vinyl interior. It was produced as a C-code 289cui-2v V8 Windsor engined car, matched to a C4 3-spd automatic transmission and driven by a conventional 2.80:1 rear differential. This ’66 Coupe was delivered to the Seattle, Washington DSO where it was sold, and it has been a resident all its life in the drier East Washington district.
The car presents very well, with a repaint and change of colour to Sapphire Blue Metallic some time ago. Inside, the interior is in excellent condition with the trim now showing brand new Pony Light Blue & Parchment luxury vinyl, and a Alpine Bluetooth stereo system with amplifiers & subwoofers has been retro fitted.
Under the hood, the 289 V8 engine fires up easily, runs very well and sounds great with the addition of a mild street cam, headers & dual hot dog mufflers. The C4 automatic transmission engages and shifts well; with power assisted brakes the car stops easily and with power steering this pony is very easy to steer. The addition of a Holley 4-bbl carburetor, aluminium intake and dual exhaust system give this car some true muscle value.
The undercarriage is original and is in very solid, with the floors, frame rails, torque boxes and trunk drop offs are all in very good condition. The car features 14″ Cragar SS chrome wheels which compliment the blue metallic body nicely.
Make no mistake, this is a lovely example of a ’66 Mustang Coupe which is a driver’s car, not a show car.
