This car was built in Ford’s San Jose, Northern California plant as an ‘A-code’ 289-4v V8 engined car and it still presents very nicely today, with a repaint in the non-original colour of Vintage Burgundy some fifteen (15) years ago. Inside, the interior is in excellent condition now showing brand new Black vinyl seat upholstery, door cards & dash cover. It also has new floor carpet fitted and dash gauge lenses replaced. A new ‘Retro Radio Motor 7’ Bluetooth stereo system has also been installed for modern day listening and hands free calling.
Under the hood, the 289-4v V8 engine fires up easily, runs very well and sounds great with the throaty tone of its dual exhaust. The C4 automatic transmission engages and shifts well; with power assisted brakes front disc brakes the car stops easily, and with power steering this pony is very easy to steer. In the last 18 months this car has been gone over thoroughly mechanically – brake system overhaul including reconditioning of original ‘Kelsey Hayes’ front disc brakes & rear drum brakes, reconditioning of cooling system including radiator & hoses, new engine mounts, new water pump, new Saginaw power steering pump and transmission service.
The undercarriage is original and is very solid, with the floors, frame rails, torque boxes and trunk drop offs all in very good condition. The car features 14″ Cragar-style chrome wheels fitted with Sumitomo 225/60 radial tyres.
This is a lovely example of a ’66 Mustang Coupe which is a driver’s car, not a show car.
