1967 Chevrolet Impala 2-Door Fastback Sport Coupe powered by a 4.6L 283cui ‘Turbo Fire’ V8 GM Chev small block engine and driven by a PowerGlide (M35) 2-speed column shift automatic transmission.
If any car deserves to be called the archetypal sixties American automobile, it’s the Chevrolet Impala. In 1965, the peak of its popularity, one in every nine new cars sold in the United States was an Impala. The Impala had evolved into a highly specific symbol of class attainment for moderately affluent suburbanites careful to neither understate nor overstep their social position.
The 1967 Chevrolet full-size B-body was redesigned with enhanced ‘coke bottle’ styling and the Impala Sport coupes had a graceful fastback roof line, which flowed in an unbroken line into the rear deck.
This is a very nice original stock car, that had been owned by the previous owner since 1970, with registration records dating back to 1972. The only non-original items on this car are a recent repaint in which the original factory Mountain Green has been replaced, and new alloy wheels & tyres have been fitted. The car has no rust issues with the floorpans and trunk in good shape, and it has good original upholstery, headliner and dashpad. The chrome & glass are all good, with the windscreen having just been replaced due to a crack on the driver’s side.
It starts-runs-drives-stops good, but of course with being the original engine, transmission, exhaust, etc there will be a need for basic mechanical work from age and lack of recent use. This car has great potential as a weekend warrior!
