Car Description
1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 2-door Hardtop Sport Coupe powered by a 5.7L 350cui V8 360hp GM Chev LT1 small block engine and driven by a THM400 3-spd console-shift automatic transmission.
Other versions certainly had their strong points, but the 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was simply the best all-around Z28 ever built. It was a muscle car that had come into its own. The Z28 appropriated the Corvette’s 350-cid LT1 V-8 as its sole power-plant. A timeless small block, the LT1 had solid lifters, a hot cam, big valves, aluminum pistons, 11.0:1 compression, a 780-cfm Holley four barrel carburetor and was rated at 360hp in the Z28. With this engine & gearing there was now enough low-end torque for Chevy to offer the Z28’s first ever automatic transmission option.
The Z28 had matured. If it had lost some of its predecessors’ juvenile zeal, it surpassed them in acceleration, balance, and refinement. Car and Driver called the ’70 “an automobile of uncommon merit… a car of brilliant performance….”
So, you see why these 1970 models are high on the list of collectable “muscle cars!”
This is an original & true Z28 with only 44,450 original miles and powered by the original 350ci 360 horsepower engine and console shift automatic transmission featuring power steering, power disc front brakes and a post-traction 12-bolt rear end! It’s been finished just once in the original color of Cranberry Red with Black racing stripes, and is complimented by the factory original black upholstery and optional front and rear spoilers. It’s a two-family, three-owner car since new and it’s a very special and collectable Camaro!
