1968 Chevrolet Camaro 2-door Hardtop Sport Coupe ROLLING PROJECT with a 4-speed Muncie manual transmission, vertical gate shifter and power assisted brakes.
This is a good looking ’68 Camaro if you are in the market for a solid body to start a restoration. This car was built in the 1st week of March 1968 in GM’s Van Nuys (Los Angeles) plant, was originally painted Sequoia Green with Black interior and was powered by a V8 engine with a 4-speed transmission. This car would be a great candidate for a full off resto-mod build, or to simply bring it back as a restored classic. Either way this ’68 Camaro is worth taking a look at!
The Body is rather straight and work has already been started on taking this car down to bare metal. Minor rust is seen on the rear quarters, front lower fenders, and a few smaller areas but it’s nothing to be scared of. The right front fender does have minor damage from the past, but everything lines up straight and has no structural damage behind it.
The Interior is mostly complete but does show it’s age. The Floor appears to be solid but the tunnel has been cut to accept the upgraded vertical gate shifter. The windshield is cracked but the rest of the glass is intact and operational.
The Engine is long gone but the exhaust headers are in place and ready to accept a small block V8. The Muncie 4-speed transmission is also in place with all the linkages present. The Chassis appears rather solid including the floors and trunk pan, the frame is solid as well, but will need a good cleaning along with new bushings/shocks etc.
Make no mistake, this is a rolling project car and will require major restoration work!! These cars are very hard to find and are worth saving. Finding a good start to a restoration project is a battle in itself, and 4-speed Camaro’s in particular, are extremely sought after. Most everything for this car is available new through the aftermarket world and all the important stuff is there.
