1969 Plymouth Road Runner 2-dr Hardtop powered by a 6.3L 383cui V8 ‘Magnum’ Mopar big block engine and matched to a 4-speed floor-shift manual transmission and driven through a 8.75″ rear differential.
Background:-
“The Plymouth Road Runner was a mid-sized car with a focus on performance built by Plymouth in the United States between 1968 and 1980. By 1968, some of the original muscle cars were moving away from their roots as relatively cheap, fast cars as they gained features and increased in price. Plymouth developed the Road Runner to market a lower-priced, basic trim model to its upscale GTX. Plymouth paid $50,000 to Warner Bros to use the Road Runner name and likeness from their Wile E. Coyote & Road Runner cartoons (as well as a “beep, beep” horn, which Plymouth paid $10,000 to develop).”
Unfortunately, this car is missing the original fender body plate tag so the particulars of the build are lost, however the VIN clearly shows that this is a true Road Runner.
This Road Runner is a super nice weekend driver, as it runs and drives great. It is a ‘non-numbers matching’ car, though it does have a correct and strong running 383cui Magnum V8 engine with matching 4-speed manual transmission from the same donor vehicle. It is still the basic Road Runner that left the factory in 1969 as a non-power steering / disc brake car. This one was built for stop light to stop light thrills, and it looks great doing it!
The car features a ‘Dakota’ digital gauge upgrade, painted hood stripes, Road Runner graphics, great looking ‘Blue Fire Metallic’ paint, chrome and trim, and a very clean Blue interior.
There has been many hours of work and effort that have gone into this car to bring it to where it is today, and it still has some more to go.
Let’s be clear, this ’69 Road Runner is a driver, not a show car.
It’s pretty much ready to fill the tank and terrorize some coyotes!
These 1st Generation (1968-1970) Road Runner’s are super rare to find these days, especially in this condition.
