1994 Ford Mustang GT Convertible powered by a 5.0L 302cui Supercharged EFI Ford Windsor HO small block engine matched to a 4-speed automatic transmission and driven through a conventional rear differential with 3.73:1 gearing.
The Mustang GT was reintroduced in January 1994 as part of the 4th-generation update. It got higher performance and better handling than the base Mustang or its GT predecessor. There was not a big improvement over the 1993 GT in terms of straight line performance but the 1994 Mustang GT’s handling was much improved over the previous-generation car thanks to progressive-rate springs, longer control arms, new spindles, anti-roll bars, chassis stiffening, dual exhausts and larger 16-inch alloy wheels. From behind the wheel, this new 1994 Mustang had predictable understeer calibrated to match skill levels of the average driver, and its transient response was well controlled and imparted a feeling of confidence.
This Mustang GT Convertible car was built in Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan plant in March 1994 and was painted Rio Red and featured standard Black & Grey cloth interior. It was produced as a 5.0L EFI V8 engined car with a AODE 4-spd automatic transmission and driven through a conventional differential with 2.73:1 gearing. This ’94 convertible was then delivered to the Seattle, Washington DSO where it was sold, and it has spent all its life on the drier pacific north-west coast of the US.
This car was upgraded in the late 90’s / early 2000’s with an engine and transmission build taking it to the next level in performance. It was used for sunny day trips and casual use. Due to health reasons, it was taken out of street duty around 2009. It had sat in a garage for the last 15 years waiting on a hero to save her. At last, a man in shiny coveralls appeared with a trailer & winch and took her away. After some time in the car-spa and with fresh fuel & oil, it has now awoke out of its slumber as if no time had passed. Freshly polished paint, shampoo’d interior and a UV protectant coating applied, this ‘Stang is ready for a new lease on life.
Mechanical work included the installation of a Kenne Bell Supercharger, AFR 165 cylinder heads, Crane 2031 camshaft, ceramic coated headers and High-Flow catalytic converters. The AOD transmission was upgraded with a 2400 RPM stall converter and a shift kit. The rear differential was fitted with a 3.73:1 gear set. Needless to say, this car is very quick off the mark! A lot of time and money have been spent on these upgrades and build.
This GT now sees 95,981 miles on the clock, of which approximately 4,000 miles have been driven since the engine and transmission builds. The convertible top is almost new. The air conditioner is currently not working and needs to be re-gassed. Everything else works as they should.
This is a rust-free car which is in very good condition and will leave a smile on your face with its performance and handling characteristics.
