1970 Mercury Cyclone GT 2-door Hardtop Coupe powered by a 5.8L 351cui V8 Ford Cleveland small block engine and driven by a Ford FMX 3-speed floor shift automatic transmission.
The Cyclone model was produced from 1968 to 1971 in three (3) variations – base, GT & Spoiler. For the sporting gentleman that placed more emphasis in style than speed, there was the Cyclone GT. The basic package offered comfort weave bucket seats, full-length console, twin racing mirrors, integrated hood scoop that could be made functional for optional ram air induction, hide-away headlights, three pod tail lights and unique lower-body line trim.
Citing the advertising slogans of the time, Cyclone GT was a “street fighter” with the qualities of a sports car. The car had a body with a continuously decreasing Fastback roofline, which was a distinction from the same platform 1970 Ford Torino, in front of a W-shaped lattice acted “gunsight”, which together with the ribbed hood became a reason why the car was nicknamed “killer”.
If you are looking for a rare car then this is the one. You will certainly stand out in the crowd of Mustangs, Camaros & Firebirds. This is a very solid 95% rust-free Oklahoma car, it runs and drives but will need basic mechanical work for more reliability. It has good chrome & glass, but will need upholstery, carpet, dashpad & the headliner replaced and a repaint to turn this car into a weekend show vehicle. This is a drive-while-you-restore car and will certainly appreciate in value.
