1968 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback ‘S-code’ now powered by a 7.0L 427cui V8 Ford big block engine and driven by a Ford C6 3-spd console-shift automatic transmission featuring overdrive.
The first-generation Ford Mustang is a gold-standard collectible. Even though the Mustang was never particularly rare and a whole lot of them survived middle age, it has become one of the cornerstones of American car collecting. By 1968, the Mustang had seven listed performance levels, ranging from the 200cui Thriftpower 6-cylinder at 120hp up to the 427cui V8 at 390hp. The 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback reached iconic status after it was featured in the 1968 film Bullitt.
This car was built in Ford’s Jan Jose, California plant on the 30th November 1967 as a S-code (390cui V8) and was finished in Sunlit Gold paint with Black trim, of which only 138 units were produced in this paint/trim combination. It featured power steering, power assisted front disc brakes, ‘SelectAire’ air conditioning and Black-Out hood treatment when it left the factory.
This car has been fully restored to show condition. The ‘S’-code engine has since been replaced with a 7.0L 427cui V8 big block with a ‘Go Fast’ fuel injection system, aluminium heads, headers & dual exhaust system. Other features of the build include beautiful base clear paint, power steering, power-assisted ‘Wilwood’ 4-wheel disc brakes and an aluminium radiator.
This ’68 Fastback stands out, is very quick, is awesome to drive and has the sound too match!!
