1967 Ford Mustang 2-dr Hardtop Coupe powered by a 4.7L ‘C-code’ 289cui-2v V8 Ford Windsor small block engine matched to a 3-spd floor-shift manual transmission and driven through a conventional rear differential with 3.10:1 highway gearing.
This Mustang was built in Ford’s San Jose, Northern California plant on the 6th April 1967 and featured Acapulco Blue paint matched to Blue vinyl upholstery with standard front bucket seats. It was powered by a 4.7L ‘C-Code’ 289cui-2v V8 Windsor small block engine, matched with a 3-speed floor-shift manual transmission and paired to a conventional rear differential with 3.10:1 highway gearing. This car was ordered with the ‘Sports Sprint’ package. It was delivered and sold into the Seattle, Washington State DSO on the Pacific North-West coast of the US where it has resided all its life.
It’s getting hard to find a stock early Mustang’s these days. Everything has been converted to power this and power that. Fuel injection, overdrive transmissions, big wheels and funky paint seem to be the norm. This one is quite refreshing being stock, clean and unmolested. This would be more of what you found in the early 70’s with a few things touched, but mostly stock configuration. It’s been in the same family for quite some time before now being offered for sale.
This Mustang has seen some work over the years including a respray in it’s original colour of Acapulco Blue which has a nice shine but there are some small bubbles that formed due to being covered with a non breathable car cover. They are mostly on the driver’s side of the hood and roof. They aren’t visible from 10 feet, but get closer and in the right light, they become visible. The paint is attractive and shows well as driver quality. Chrome, glass and trim are all in good condition.
Inside the interior was upholstered originally in a two-tone blue but has been switched out with Black vinyl trim and carpet and headrests have also been added to the front bucket seats for safety and comfort. The dash & headliner have been converted to white and it looks surprisingly nice. The interior is nice & tidy, seats are super comfortable and easily nice enough for a long drive.
The ‘Sports Sprint’ or ‘Exterior Decor’ package includes – chrome plated air cleaner, rocker panel & wheel well mouldings, louvered turn indicator bonnet, wheel covers, timber gearshift-knob lever and trunk/quarter window trim mouldings.
Under the hood, the 289 V8 engine fires up easily and runs very well and the 3-spd manual transmission shifts nicely. Apart from the Sports Sprint package upgrades this Mustang is a base model with no power steering, power-assisted brakes or air conditioning. The car drives well and tracks nicely down the road.
This car has been garaged for most of it’s life. The floors and frame rails appear to be the originals and they are quite solid and appear to be rust-free. There is some sign of accident damage on the passenger front rail which is kind of odd given that the aprons appear to be in good condition. Please be sure to check out the undercarriage pictures.
This is a solid good running Mustang, ideal for weekend cruising. Not flawless, but very respectable.
Please note: This Mustang is situated in the Pacific North-West of the US, with a clear title and is available for immediate import into Australia. This price is an ALL-INCLUSIVE landed price in Australia incl GST.
