This car was built in Ford’s San Jose, California plant on the 10th January 1966 and was painted Silver Blue and featured standard Black vinyl interior. It was produced as a T-code 200cui 6-cyl engine car with a 3-spd automatic transmission.
This ’66 Coupe was a California resident before moving to Washington state and as such this car is about as rust free as you will find.
The car presents very well, mainly due to a repaint some time ago. You will see a few minor dents on the drivers door and passenger side front fender. The drivers side rear quarter has been replaced at some stage, evidence of which can be seen in the paint cracking in the repair seam. Overall though the car does not need a repaint, and there is nothing that the dent doctor cannot repair easily and cheaply.
Inside, the interior is in great condition with the trim very tidy, and it just feels ‘authentic’. The trunk is in great shape also showing no signs of rust.
Under the hood, the 200 cubic inch engine fires up easily and runs very well. The 200’s have great low end torque and throttle response, and they are also quite capable of some impressive fuel economy. The automatic transmission goes into gear quickly and shifts properly. There is evidence of front suspension work and steering components having just been replaced (eg. ball joints, tie rod ends, etc), which helps to explain why this car drives smooth & tight on the road.
The undercarriage is nothing short of amazing, and it still bears in places the original coveted red oxide paint. The floors, frame rails, torque boxes and trunk drop offs are all in excellent condition.
This is a very nice and well kept example of a 6-cyl ‘T-code’ Mustang Coupe.
