Car Description

1964.5 Ford Mustang 2-dr Hardtop Coupe powered by a 4.7L 289cui-4V V8 Ford Windsor small block engine and driven by a C4 3-speed console-shift automatic transmission.

               Little Ol’ Lady Mustang!!
               California Built
               Desirable ‘D’ Code 289-4v Engine
               Power Steering
               Power Assisted Drum Brakes
               Rally Pack Gauges

This one is truly a little old lady’s Mustang. It has come to us from the estate of a 91 year old lady whom it is reported to have purchased it new. This car has been driven too and has the receipt documentation to show an incredible amount of work done including engine rebuild, steering rebuilds, suspension rebuilds, exhaust, interior work, electrical system…you name it.

‘Love at first glance’…this is a great looking Mustang. The Sunlight Yellow, which was a 1964 1/2 production colour only, is really set off by the White vinyl top. This one is a classy looking Coupe. The paint is older with some scratches & dings, however it still presents very well. Obviously being a regularly driven car for the last 57 years this one has seen some action. There have been some bumps & bruises…they are documented in the receipts. One of those did involve a new bonnet and core support replacement.

Inside the interior is in pretty nice original shape. The seat upholstery is in good condition, door panels & headliner look nice too. The carpet was one of the more recent replacements and looks new. The Rally Pack gauges still works properly…even the clock! The air conditioning is the factory Ford style and has the a/c trimmed matching console, however the under bonnet portion has been removed and doesn’t come with the car.

Under the bonnet the engine compartment is still pretty stock with the biggest notable exception of the alternator upgrade. The factory 64.5 timing cover is still in place. The engine was rebuilt at 114k miles and currently the odometer is showing 92,989 so we figure that there are about 79k miles on this rebuild. The engine fires up easily and runs excellent. The ignition system has been upgraded with a Pertronix system and the carburetor is an Edelbrock unit. The power is actually surprisingly good and the transmission shifts nicely too.

The steering and suspension are quite nice on this car. Both have receipt documentation showing rebuilds with relatively low mileage. This car does drive down the road nice & tight.

Receipt documentation starts way back in the 1900’s and there are literally tens of thousands of dollars of receipts on this one.

This car still wears it’s original floor pans and frame rails, which are in good shape with only some minor rust issues in the floor pans requiring attention.

No big wheels…just the factory 14″ stock steel rims with what appear to be the original ‘Spinner’ hubcaps.

If you are looking for an original 1st gen Mustang that has documented history, then look no further.
