Car Description

1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible powered by a 6.4L 390cui V8 Ford FE-Series big block engine and driven by a Ford C6 ‘Cruise-O-Matic’ 3-speed column shift automatic transmission.

The Ford Galaxie is a full sized car that was built by the Ford Motor Company from 1959 through to 1974, with four generations of the car being produced. The Galaxie 500 continued as Ford’s mid-level full-size model from 1965 until its demise at the end of the 1974 model year, with it’s major competitor being Chevrolet’s Impala. This 1967 car is a 3rd generation model which saw an all-new design featuring vertically stacked dual headlights and the cars were taller and bulkier than the previous year’s models. Suspension on the 3rd generation models was also redesigned with the former leaf-spring rear suspension being replaced with a new three-link system, with coil springs. The interiors featured a new instrument panel and a two-way key system was introduced. Modifications to the exterior styling included adding a major bend in the center of the grille and making the model less “boxy” than the previous 1965/66 models.

This particular car went into production on the 24th January 1967 in Ford’s Wayne Michigan plant and was first delivered to the Indianapolis DSO, and to this day it still shows it’s original Dark Green Metallic finish. It still features it’s original numbers matching 6.4L 390 V8 FE-Series engine and C6 automatic transmission. This car is an ALL ORIGINAL survivor car that has been very-well maintained and shows only 71,450 miles, and the original documentation (including the original Ford OwnerCard) from the first owner that proves this mileage, is available with the car.

The car starts right up and still runs and drives strong, and the only rust to be found on the car is a tiny amount on the lower part of the left rear wheel well. The original black convertible top is still in decent condition and it’s hydraulics work great, and the original black vinyl interior is flawless. The car still shows it’s original paint, so of course some flaws do exist, but it is all original paint. Original floors are still solid, the drum brakes work well, all lights work and the AM radio comes in loud & clear. This car has always been garaged. Recent work to the car includes the fitting of four (4) brand new Hankook whitewall tyres, new custom exhaust system, new master cylinder & brake lines, original carburetor full rebuild, new belts, new upper & lower radiator hoses, new fuel pump, spark plugs & leads, new U-joints and new interior carpet & floor mats.

Please find attached a link to the engine running – https://youtu.be/s2ACQ8JaLpM

You will find this car to be a great period correct original survivor still with it’s numbers matching drivetrain. Not a show car, but a great survivor soft-top all the same.
