1967 Ford Fairlane 500 2-dr hardtop coupe powered by a 4.7L 289cui V8 Ford Windsor small block engine and driven by a 4-speed floor-shift manual transmission.
This ’67 5th-Gen Fairlane 500 was manufactured in Ford’s Lorain, Ohio plant in September 1967 as a Fairlane 500 2-dr hardtop coupe. The trim/body plate identifies it as painted in Light Aqua with Aqua interior vinyl trim with a bench seat. From the factory this Fairlane was equipped with a driveline which included a 4.7L 289cui V8 Windsor small block engine, a C4 3-spd automatic transmission paired to a 2.80:1 ratio differential.
Obviously this Fairlane has RUST but the bones are pretty solid. Aftermarket suppliers finally have a good bead on the Fairlane’s with patch panels available. Sure there will be some quality time spent in the garage, call it therapy or sweat equity. However, there is light & value at the end of this tunnel.
The interior is screaming for help, again it’s aftermarket suppliers to the rescue. From seat upholstery to carpet to headliners there isn’t much you can’t just order online.
Under the hood, the 289 V8 runs quite well and now runs a 4-bbl carburetor. The original C4 automatic has been replaced with a 4-speed toploader, which shifts pretty nicely with good clutch engagement. Out back the original 8″ has been replaced with a 9″ differential with a Traction Lok.
The BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s are pretty much new and look great with the chrome wheels.
Make no mistakes this is a Project / Restorer car, and although it has a good drivetrain, it will require significant restoration work for the person looking to take on this challenge.
