Car Description
1968 Dodge Charger 500 2-dr Sports Hardtop Coupe powered by a 5.2L 318cui V8 Chrysler LA-series engine and driven by a TorqueFlite A904 3-spd column-shift automatic transmission.
This base model Charger was built in Chrysler’s Hamtramck Michigan plant and featured Light Blue Poly paint and Light Blue vinyl interior trim. Mechanically it was equipped with a 5.2L 318cui V8 engine and matched to a TorqueFlite A904 3-spd column shift automatic transmission.
This ’68 charger is very original car but does show some minor rust , as seen in the photo’s. You will find some rust in the rear window channel and drivers side quarter panel and passenger side quarter panel, otherwise it’s a very solid car with original floor pans and trunk pan. The windshield does have a crack on the passenger side, but the side glass is in good shape and the rear window was just replaced. The car has undergone an exterior respray in White some time ago. As you move inside of the charger, the interior is in reasonably good condition with no major rips or tears in the seat upholstery and the carpet even shows pretty well. This is an original air conditioned car with the pump included, but not installed. Unlike most cars of this vintage, the headlights function properly! The turn signals don’t work, but we will include a new switch with the car.
Powering this charger is an easy starting and smooth running 318 V8 with a nice shifting automatic transmission. We don’t have any records on the motor and transmission, but after inspection they both appear to be recently gone through and based on how it drives that assumption feels accurate. Power steering makes the driving and turning effortless and the drum brakes work as they should.
This ’68 Charger will make for a great driving restoration for the Dodge fans.
