Very Solid Body
This was the last model in the 2nd-gen Charger lineup. The entire B-body lineup for the 2nd-gen models were redesigned and the Charger was further differentiated from the Coronet models. The ‘coke-bottle’ profile was adopted and featured a large wraparound chrome bumper and the grille was no longer divided in the middle. New electric headlight doors replaced the old vacuum style, and new high back bucket seats or a bench front seat, a first for the Charger since its debut.
This base model Charger was built in Chrysler’s St. Louis Missouri plant on the 20th February 1970 and featured Dark Green Metallic paint, Dark Green vinyl interior trim and Green vinyl roof. Option codes included centre console, bucket seats, left hand remote mirror, drip rail moldings and air conditioning. Mechanically it was equipped from the factory with a 5.2L 318cui V8 engine, 2-barrel carburetor and matched to a TorqueFlite A904 3-spd console-shift automatic transmission.
This 1970 Charger 500 is a very rare all original unmolested BARN FIND. It has had a new fuel tank installed, fuel lines cleaned, brake master cylinder refirbish and new wheels & tyres fitted – and it started, ran, drove & stopped.
This car has been very well preserved and only appears to have rust in the trunk floor and rear window. The body and panels are all original, but the vinyl top is long gone and the body bears the dings, dents & patina of a 51 year old car that has spent time in the paddock sun before the barn. This is a great contender for a full restoration of an iconic car!!
