1968 Chevrolet Impala 4-dr Sedan powered by a 6.5L 396cui V8 GM Chevy big block engine and driven by a THM400 3-speed column-shift automatic transmission.
If any car deserves to be called the archetypal sixties American automobile, it’s the Chevrolet Impala. In 1965, the peak of its popularity, one in every nine new cars sold in the United States was an Impala. The Impala had evolved into a highly specific symbol of class attainment for moderately affluent suburbanites careful to neither understate nor overstep their social position.
This Impala is an all original car featuring a big block 396cui V8 engine, power windows, power steering & air conditioning, all which were factory fitted at build. The car has no rust issues, apart from two bubbles on the right rear lower quarter panel (see photo), with the rest in good shape including the floorpans and trunk. It has good original upholstery, headliner and dashpad, and the chrome & glass are all good. The engine has just been serviced approx 700kms ago, and also just recently seen the addition of a new radiator, carburetor, alloy wheels & tyres, starter motor, heater core, and more. Available with the sale are the original rims, hub caps & carburetor.
This car starts-runs-drives-stops good, but of course with being the original engine & transmission, etc there will be a need for basic mechanical work.
