1969 Chevrolet Camaro 2-door Hardtop Sport Coupe PROJECT powered by a 5.3L 327cui V8 GM Chev small block engine and driven by a TH400 3-speed floor-shift automatic transmission.
It can be tough to find a good solid Classic Muscle Car to consider for your restoration project, and then even tougher to find one with it’s original engine that RUNS and DRIVES!!!
This ’69 Camaro is an Original Un-Restored car with Numbers Matching engine.
This car was built in the 1st week of September 1969 in GM’s Norwood (Ohio) plant, was originally painted Rallye Green with a Black vinyl roof, was fitted out with Black vinyl interior and was powered by a 327cui V8 small block engine with a TH350 3-speed column shift automatic transmission. This car even now still appears to be wearing it’s original paint and trim configuration.
The Body work has been started, but realistically has not got too far. You can see the condition of the original sheet metal, there are plenty of minor bumps and bruises which can be seen and some patch work will be needed around the rear quarter panels. The grille and header panel are brand new and installed saving you some time and money in the long run.
The Interior is rather complete and in decent shape for it’s age. The driver seat and passenger headrest need to be reupholstered, it also requires a new drivers door card and a headliner and boom. Once this is upfitted you will have a presentable interior for a daily driver, or you could go to the next level and fit it out with a complete new interior kit, which is rather relatively inexpensive. The windshield is cracked but the rest of the glass is intact and operational.
The Engine is a Matching Numbers 327ci V8 that does run and drive although we consider it to be a parking lot driver only. This Camaro had been sitting idle since at least 1992. The fluids have now been changed, the cylinders oiled, and it fired right back up to life and runs surprisingly well. This Camaro was originally a column shift automatic, but a floor shift “Mr. Gasket” shifter has been added for that ultimate Muscle Car look. Everything appears to be original with the exception of some long tube headers, TH400 transmission and the floor gearshift.
The Chassis is in rather good shape for it’s age and rust is very minimal. The floors and trunk pan are in good shape (minor rust spot on trunk pan) and the frame is solid. This Camaro even still has it’s original style transverse muffler!
The car runs and drives and everything seems to work fine, but it will require basic mechanical restoration, body work & paint and some general TLC from lack of use as it has been sitting for quite some time.
