1960 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside Shortbed pickup truck powered by a 5.7L 350cui Chevy V8 small block engine and driven by a TH350 floor-shift automatic transmission.
Launched in the fall of 1959, the 1960 model year introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts. Most important of these were a drop-centre ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower, and independent front suspension, giving an almost car-like ride in a truck. The 1960-62 models also featured torsion bar front suspensions, with trailing arm suspension rears.
This is what you call a “GOOD DRIVING SHOP TRUCK, V8, AUTOMATIC, EASY DRIVING PROJECT!” It runs and drives great, and you can do the restoration that you want to it!
Cosmetically this C10 has a fairly straight body with a few normal dings and dents that you see on a typical 60 year old shop truck. It has just been painted in new ‘hot rod’ black paint. We have the eyebrow hood and can install it if you prefer the original ’60 Chevy look. The undercarriage is solid and it has rust free frame rails and cab mounts, however the inner rockers are rusted and should be replaced. It is fitted with late model bucket seats which are comfortable and in good shape, and it still features the original dash but with later model gauges installed. All of the glass is in good original condition, the windows roll up and down, but they skip as they get lower, so it may need new regulators. The trunk features new bed wood which is ‘burned and cleared’ for that cool look. The older chrome wheels are pitting and have some surface rust, and the tyres are going to need to be replaced soon.
Mechanically it features a 5.7L 350cui Chevy V8 small block engine which starts easily and runs strong. The TH350 3-spd automatic transmission shifts smoothly, but does have a small normal oil leak. This truck drives very smoothly and tracks down the road straight, and the drum brakes stop straight as well.
