Car Description

1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door Post Sedan powered by a 5.7L 350cui V8 GM Chev small block engine and driven by a Turbo HydraMatic THM350 3-spd column-shift automatic transmission.

The  Chevrolet Bel Air  was a full-size car produced by GM from 1950 to 1981, and initially only the two door hardtops in the Chevrolet model range were designated with the Bel Air name, but with the 1953 model year the Bel Air name was changed from a designation for a unique body shape to a premium level of trim applied across a number of body styles. The 2nd Generation models (1955-1957) received all new styling and power.  It was called the “Hot One” in GM’s advertising campaign. Chevrolet’s styling was crisp, clean and incorporated a Ferrari-inspired grille, and the Bel Air’s came with features which included interior carpet, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings and full wheel covers. For the first time in 1955 Chevrolets gained a V8 engine option and the option of the 2 speed PowerGlide automatic, or a standard three speed Synchro-Mesh manual transmission with optional overdrive.

This is a lovely ’55 Bel Air which is ‘rust free’ and runs & drives fantastic. This car had a frame-off restoration in 1999 and is currently showing only 2400 miles since that restoration. The paint, body trim and bumper’s are in great shape. Interior is in excellent condition, and the under side is on par with the rest of the car. Under the bonnet you will find a 5.7L 350cui SBC V8 engine matched to a TH350 Hydramatic transmission. The ‘Vintage’ air conditioning will keep you comfortable as you cruise. The rear axle is still the original, which was overhauled at the time of restoration. It features power assisted disc brakes up front and drum brakes in the rear. To finish off the aggressive stance are a set of 15″ x 8″ Torque Thrust II alloy wheels fitted with BF Goodrich Radial  T/A tyres.

This is an awesome cruiser and show car, and depicts the muscle that the ’55-57 Chevy’s offer us today.
