Car Description

1970 Buick Electra 225 4-dr Hardtop powered by a 7.5L 455cui 370hp V8 GM big block engine, driven by a THM400 3-spd column-shift automatic transmission and only showing 68,723 original miles.

          7.5L 455cui 370hp V8 Big Block
          THM400 3-spd Auto
          4-bbl Carburetor
          Power Steering
          Factory Air Conditioning

This was the last 225 model in the 3rd Gen ‘Electra’ series (1965-1970), and it went out with a bang – 1970 saw the introduction of GM’s legendary 7.5L 455cui 370hp V8 engine.

68,723 Original One-Owner Miles!! This Electra was bought new in Colorado and brought to Bend, Oregon brand new where it has been pampered and garage kept its entire life!

This Buick was produced in June 1970 in GM’s Flint, Michigan plant as a luxury Electra 225 4-dr thin-pillar hardtop sedan and was fitted with a 455cui-4v V8 GM Rocket big block engine, that was matched with a THM400 3-spd column-shift automatic transmission and paired to a conventional rear differential. The trim/body plate identifies it as painted in GM’s Stratomist Blue Metallic paint with a Black vinyl top; it was trimmed with two-tone Blue cloth & vinyl interior and fitted with a front bench seat with headrests. This car was then delivered to a Buick dealer in Colorado and subsequently sold by that selling dealer to its first and only one-owner in Bend, Oregon in July 1970, and where it has subsequently spent all its life since.

The factory original cloth upholstery is still like new, and the rear seat has rarely been sat in. This as an absolutely rust-free car with all the factory original Stratomist Blue lower paint in excellent condition. The vinyl top was removed many years ago and painted in Diplomat Blue to retain that factory appearance. All the chrome and stainless has held up great with a nice shine. The 455ci V8 engine runs smooth and silent, just the way a luxury car should. The car features standard factory automatic transmission, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, climate control air conditioning, tilt-column steering, factory AM radio and power front seat. All the 4 headlights are still the original correct T3 units that it came with from the factory. The car now sits on new radial white wall tyres and it is a pleasure to drive given its vintage, with a smooth, quiet ride with great power for those long road trips.

1970 was when Buick was at the zenith of top-quality automobile production.

This Electra 225 is truly a lovely car and a true showpiece and prime example of Buick’s flagship full-size luxury car platform of the era. It is an ideal candidate for Collector status and ready to drive and show.
