          Performance Built C4 3-Spd Auto

          Heavy-duty Ford 9″ Diff

This Ranchero was built in Ford’s Kansas City, Kansas plant on the 21st December 1966 as a 2-dr sport pickup and was painted Wimbledon White and featured Blue vinyl interior with bucket seats. It was produced as a C-code 4.7L 289cui-2v V8 Windsor engined car with a C4 3-spd select-shift automatic transmission and driven through a conventional rear differential with 3.00:1 gearing, and was first delivered to the Seattle, Washington state DSO for sale. This Life-Long Pacific Northwest Ranchero was sold new in September of 1967. It was produced specifically to be a loaner car under Ford’s corporate ‘Loan Out Vehicle Program’ and sent to Gearhart Ford Sales Co in Mount Vernon, Washington in December of 1966. The dealer used it as a loaner until it was sold on September 6th of 1967. Thankfully it’s been garaged and the floors are among the nicest you will see in a 58 year old car.

Specific features of this Ranchero build include: –

  • Early 1969 351cui Windsor bored .040 over
  • Scat rotating assembly, w/ 10.5:1 compression increasing cui to 427
  • Hydraulic Roller Camshaft 275@110
  • Pro Comp Aluminum Cylinder Heads
  • Edelbrock dual plane 180 intake manifold
  • 750cfm Holley carburetor w/ LeMans bowls
  • Dressed as a big block 427 V8
  • Performance rebuilt and upgraded C4 Automatic Transmission
  • Heavy Duty 9” Rear End
  • 31 Spline Axles & Daytona pinion
  • ‘Traction-Lock’ rear diff
  • Ceramic coated ‘Tri-Y’ headers
  • Front suspension recently rebuilt
  • Steering components recently replaced

This is a gorgeous example of a ’67 Ranchero. The paint has a great shine, panels are straight & solid, chrome & bright work are all impressive and that’s on top of this being a 1-year only body style. The functional 427 reproduction hood really makes the car stand out with the big air intake up front. and the 427 fender badges lets everyone know this isn’t some over-challenged 289 2-bbl or even wheezy 390GT.

Under the bonnet lives a 427 cubic inch monster. This is a 351 Windsor based engine utilizing a 1969 block with the extra webbing. The rotating assembly is reported to be an Eagle setup with 10.5:1 compression that’s been fully balanced. They cylinder heads are Pro Comp aluminum units and the cam is a custom grind hydraulic roller from Oregon Cams. The RPM style intake manifold is topped with an Air Fuel Spark built 750cfm Holley carburetor that’s been fitted with LeMans float bowls. The headers are Thorley Tri-Y’s that have been ceramic coated and exit through a high-quality dual exhaust with ‘Turbo’ style mufflers. It literally sounds perfect.

The C4 automatic has been performance built/upgraded with extra clutches, mild stall converter and a shift kit. The factory 8″ differential has been upgraded to a Heavy Duty 9″ unit with a heavy-duty housing, ‘Nodular’ case housing, Daytona Pinion support, 3.50 gearing and a Traction Lock.

The front suspension has been completely rebuilt and larger front disc brakes added. The steering is tight with new tie rod ends and a manual steering conversion installed. This one is an easy steer thanks to the correct components and that beautiful factory 16″ steering wheel.

Interior wise the factory 500XL interior has been restored using factory upholstery. The fit & finish is amazing, and the bezels and trim all shine brightly. other upgrades also include new carpet, retro style aftermarket gauges and a centre console.

This Ranchero is a beautiful, solid and straight car that runs & drives perfectly. These Ranchero’s have become relatively rare and sought after in recent years. Only 1881 500XL cars were built, of which only 35 had this paint/trim codes making this car rare. Overall, this is a well optioned Ranchero 500XL which presents in excellent condition with no rust.

Please note: This Ranchero is situated in the Pacific North-West of the US, with a clear title and is available for immediate import into Australia. This price is an ALL-INCLUSIVE landed price in Australia incl GST.
