1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback Coupe powered by a 5.8L 351cui V8 Ford Cleveland 335-Series small block engine and driven by a C6 ‘Cruise-O-Matic’ 3-speed floor shift automatic transmission.
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 was first introduced in the 1969 model range as a replacement for the label ‘GT’, as it no longer was a name that would initiate images of street screeching performance for the younger drivers that Ford was trying to attract to their muscle cars. Due to the Mach 1’s success, the ‘GT’ badge was discontinued after 1969 due to poor sales and would not be reintroduced until 1982.
1971 to 1973 was the 2nd generation of Mustang and the most recognizable features of these Mustangs was the optional (standard on Boss 351) NACA (NASA) hood design with dual scoops.
This car is an original survivor which still has the original engine, which has just been rebuilt, and is matched to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. All 1973 features are still operational including power steering, power windows, power assisted front disc brakes and factory air conditioning.
This is a Californian rust-free car and is a great example of the period correct Mustang Mach 1 muscle car of the era.
