1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 2-dr Hardtop Sport Coupe powered by a No’s Matching 5.7L 350cui V8 Chevy LM1 small block engine matched with a four-speed console-shift manual transmission and driven through a Positraction limited-slip differential with 3.08:1 gearing.
This Camaro was produced in the 5th week of March 1980 in GM’s, Van Nuys (Los Angeles), Southern California plant as a Z/28 model 2-dr hardtop sport coupe and was fitted with a LM1 350cui V8 Chevy small block engine that was matched with a 4-speed floor-shift manual transmission and driven through a positraction limited-slip rear differential w/ 3.08:1 gearing. The trim/body plate identifies it as originally painted in GM’s Black-on-Black paint, trimmed with standard Black vinyl upholstery, and fitted with front bucket seats and glass T-Tops.
The 2nd Gen Camaros have now been finally getting the attention they deserve. Well optioned cars are leading the charge, and this one is a No’s Matching Factory Black-on-Black Z/28 350 4-Speed!
The body on this car is in good condition, perfect shape for a driver. The paint is an older repaint that still has a great shine. There are imperfections like small scratches and stone chips visible on close inspection. Figure this one is a 10 footer.
Inside the interior is quite nice with super comfortable bucket seats. The upholstery is in excellent condition, carpet appears new as well. There is one small crack on the dash by the driver’s front A-pillar. This car has the optional Tachometer and Gauge package too. An aftermarket stereo system has been added.
Under the bonnet, the 350 V8 carries the ‘CEU’ suffix code for the 190hp LM1 engine, and the engine block stamping matches the cars VIN, making this a No’s Matching car. Just touch the key and this one fires to life. The engine is strong-running and has been well-maintained. It sounds great too, with a nice deep note to the idle. The cowl induction system still works; just hit the throttle and the watch the door pop open on the back of the cowl!
The 4-speed manual transmission is a desirable option and still has it’s factory ‘lift-to-reverse’ shifter. Gear changes are nice both up and down the pattern, and the clutch engagement is smooth and predictable. The tyres and wheels have been upgraded with American Racing 17″ x 8″ ‘Torque Thrust’ alloy wheels and fitted with 255/45/17 BF Goodrich ‘g-Force Sport Comp II’ tyres all around.
Enhanced with factory T-Tops, Z/28 aero package, and a mild custom exhaust, this car blends originality with driver-focused upgrades and presents in well-sorted condition. It is ideal for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a true Numbers Matching 2nd-gen Camaro Z/28 with presence, and proper factory equipment.
So, whether you’re reliving the muscle era or acquiring a future classic, this Z/28 delivers on all fronts: authenticity, condition, and curb appeal!!
Please note: This Camaro is situated in the Pacific North-West of the US, with a clear title and is available for immediate import into Australia. This price is an ALL-INCLUSIVE landed price in Australia incl GST.
