1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS 2-door Hardtop Sport Coupe powered by a 5.7L 3383cui Stroker V8 Chevy small block engine matched to a THM 400 4-speed console-shift automatic transmission and driven through a 12-bolt posi-traction rear differential w/ 3.73 gearing.
This Camaro RS was produced in the 3rd week of January 1969 in GM’s, Van Nuys (Los Angeles), Southern California plant as a 2-dr hardtop sport coupe and was fitted with a 5.7L 350cui V8 GM Chevy small block engine that was matched with a THM350 3-speed console-shift automatic transmission and driven through a posi-traction 12-bolt rear differential. The trim/body plate identifies it as originally painted in GM’s Dover White paint, fitted with a Black vinyl roof, trimmed with standard Black vinyl upholstery and fitted with front bucket seats.
This ’69 RS has been restored right. It resided in a large private collection in Texas before the collection was sold at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale back in 2017. Documents of the sale will accompany the car.
A Rally Sport in Tuxedo Black with chrome accents is perhaps the classiest Camaro combo of all time. The stance is aggressive with the wheel wells jam-packed with 18″ billet wheels. When you fire the car up the 383 sounds incredible with 3″ exhaust and long tube headers.
The Tuxedo Black shines incredibly well with a nice deep finish. This body is quite straight and the panels line up well. The chrome & bright trim shine nicely and it can’t be said enough how good this one looks.
Inside the interior is the super desirable black bucket seat/centre floor console setup with full console gauges and an in-dash tachometer. This components were pretty much all replaced during the prior restoration. The tachometer and console gauges all work properly too.
Under that RS hood lies a 383 cubic inch stroker small block. It wears a full compliment of Edelbrock Performer RPM hardware and produces in excess of 400 horsepower. It breaths through tubular headers that funnel all those spent hydrocarbons into massive 3″ Dynomax exhausts. The cam is aggressive, just as this car should be, and the exhaust note is perfect with the Dynomax exhaust.
This RS is equipped with Wilwood power-assisted front disc brakes, and they not only work well, they look great too.
Out back the differential is a 12-bolt unit fitted with 3.73 gearing and a Posi-Traction.
The Rally Sport option is one of the most iconic of the Camaro options. It adds the ‘Hidden Headlight’ package, bright trim and the lower valance mounted back up lights. The headlight doors work perfectly which is a rarity.
