1969 Chevrolet El Camino 2-dr Sport Pickup powered by a No’s Matching 5.7L 350cui-4v 300hp V8 Chevy small block engine matched to a Muncie 4-spd floor-shift manual transmission and driven through a conventional 12-bolt rear differential w/ 3.31 gearing.

In 1968 Chevrolet introduced the 3rd Generation (1968-1972) of the El Camino in 1968, it was longer being based on the Chevelle station wagon/four-door sedan wheelbase and it also shared Chevelle Malibu exterior and interior trims. The 1969 models showed only minor changes, led by more-rounded front-end styling. A single chrome bar connected quad headlights, and a slotted bumper held the parking lights. New round instrument pods replaced the former linear layout

This El Camino was produced in the 3rd week of October 1968 in GM’s, Fremont, Northern California plant as a 2-dr sport pickup and was fitted with a 5.7L 350cui V8 GM Chevy small block engine that was matched with a 4-speed floor-shift manual transmission and 12-bolt rear differential. The trim/body plate identifies it as painted in GM’s LeMans Blue paint, trimmed with standard Black vinyl upholstery and fitted with a bench seat.

This El Camino is out of the dry Eastern district of Washington state. From the condition of the body, it’s easy to see it was never in a wet environment. It has nice original and straight body panels, nice straight bed, and great looking original floors and frame. You can see that it has never been abused or turned into a “wanna-be” Super Sport.

In the Muscle Car world, the hardest cars to find with their original engines were the 4-speeds. Few cars had rev limiters and those that did were quickly removed. As such these motors fell victim to missed shifts and some serious over-revs. This ’69 El Camino was ordered with the optional 300hp 350 V8, a Muncie transmission and a 3.31 ratio 12-bolt differential. Amazingly this car still has its original No’s Matching 350 engine and Muncie 4-speed transmission. Even the 12-Bolt appears to the untouched original with correct date stamps. The 350 engine still runs excellent and the 4-speed transmission shifts nicely.

LeMans Blue was one of the most popular colours of the day, and as you can see it was for a good reason. The finish has blemishes that make it the perfect candidate for a no-guilt driver. There are no obvious signs of serious collision history and the panels line up well. Chrome and glass are also in good condition. Bodywise this is a very solid example. The bed appears to be rust free and the floors are some of the nicest you will find. The only corrosion issue is on the driver’s quarter panel just behind the door. Small bubbles are evident on close inspection (see pictures). However overall, this can be considered a very solid and rust-free car.

Inside the El Camino has seen new carpet and seat upholstery fitted. A new headliner was in the works but was never completed. There is some wear on some of the trim but overall, it is quite nice. The dashboard panel and gauges are still original along with the dashpad itself. It will need a new headliner fitted and radio installed.

The Power options factory fitted really make the car. This El Camino was not a disappointment. Power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes, which have seen recent work including calipers and hoses. The braking is excellent, and the steering works like butter.

Recent suspension work includes new coil springs and shocks at all 4 corners. There is also signs of ball joint replacements. This car drives beautifully and really performs well. It is easily a car you could get in and just drive.

This is not a show car, but a very good driver quality car, and it is a  No’s Matching  Muncie 4-speed 300hp El Camino – Super hard to find in this condition!!!
